Thank You, Sasha!

We are sad to share the news that Sasha Mungal, our long-time Director of Volunteer Programs and Community Partnerships (pictured above, bottom right, with our summer 2018 VLPs), is moving on from Breakthrough at the end of September.
Sasha started at Breakthrough San Francisco in June 2012 and has played a huge role in the success of our program ever since – for seven summers and six school years. She built our Volunteer Leadership Program from a small operation into a pivotal part of our summer program. She grew our after-school program into an impactful experience for our fifth – eighth graders and for the hundreds of volunteers who have donated their time over the years. She has been a deeply significant presence in the lives of our students of all grade levels, a source of support and guidance and inspiration to them as well as our volunteers and teachers and staff. She has modeled for everyone in the Breakthrough community what it means to have high expectations, boundless energy, and deep commitment, to truly invest in relationships, and to do this work day in and day out with integrity and high standards. We will miss Sasha deeply.
Even in Sasha’s absence, we will continue the volunteer programs that she developed. Breakthrough is currently accepting applications to tutor in our after-school program this fall; please visit our volunteer page to learn more.
