We’re pleased to announce that Breakthrough has been awarded a $200,225 AmeriCorps planning grant. Breakthrough San Francisco will be working with our national office as well as four other Breakthrough locations – Greater Boston, Minneapolis, San Juan Capistrano, and Summerbridge – to collectively prepare a FY24 AmeriCorps national operational grant application.
AmeriCorps is at the heart of Breakthrough’s strategy to professionalize the pathway into teaching and ensure a sustainable start to a career in education for our Teaching Fellows. This planning grant represents the next step towards Breakthrough’s long-term goal of expanding AmeriCorps across all sites, in order to dramatically increase Teaching Fellow stipends and strengthen the value proposition of the fellowship, while advancing financial sustainability across the Collaborative.
We’d like to thank the staff at our national office for their leadership, as well as the pioneering work by other Breakthrough locations across the country who have received state-level grants in years past, developing best practices in the process.
