 Hatchet by Gary Paulsen Clay writes: Hatchet is a book about a boy named Brian who receives a hatchet from his mother who is divorced from his father. Brian flies to northern Canada in a bush plane, and the plane crashes and everybody dies except for Brian. He has to survive in the Canadian wildness until he gets rescued.
